Sodium Chloride Filler From Plywood Sawdust

Transmitted Circular Polarized Light

Sodium chloride is used as a filler in some glues used in plywood. It can also be found in sawdust from
submerged logs recovered from saltwater. This particle has residual glue (resin) associated with it, which
marks it as coming from plywood. This crystal was regrown on a slide by extracting the water-solubles
from the tapelift by applying a drop of reagent grade water to the adhesive side of the tape.
