Glass Abrasive Fingernail File

Transmitted Off Circular Polarized Light

This field of view contains glass fragments, fragments of the resin that held the glass abrasive to the board backing, and bright scrapings from the fingernail itself. The glass fragments are the same color as the background. The largest glass fragment is an elongated particle near the center of the field. The resin is orange colored in this sample. The fingernail fragments are birefringent and are quite bright when viewed with this type of illumination.
