"Bamboo" Fiber
Rayon or Viscose is a regenerated cellulose fiber. If can be formed from any source of natural cellulose from wood to cotton to bamboo.
The US Federal Trade Commission defines Rayon as a manufactured fiber with less than 15% substitution of the hydrogen on the cellulose
hydroxyl groups. Up until 2010 rayon produced from bamboo was sold as “bamboo” fiber to stress the “renewable” aspects of the cellulose
source. In 2010 the U.S. Federal Trade Commission cited this as false labeling.
